The Challenge:"Build a new material handling system that’s more efficient, increases productivity, improves order accuracy, and implement the system without disrupting our normal work." That was this retailer’s order, as they sought to manage explosive growth in number of stores served, quantity of orders filled, and products managed. In addition, the new material handling system would have to reuse existing equipment to reduce costs and incorporate new technologies to accommodate the retailer’s continued growth. The Solution:Siggins Company provided turnkey services to relocate operations to a new facility. Fast-pick modules featuring pick-to-light, serviced by conveyor with high-speed sortation, were applied to boost productivity, throughput, and accuracy—while accommodating a wide variety of product and order sizes. A phased-in approach to implementation prevented service disruption. Result: smooth transition, and all client objectives met. |
