Shop Equipment

The category of shop equipment covers such things as sit down and stand up work benches, storage cabinets, portable benches and work surfaces, modular shop floor desks, machine tool cabinets, stools and shop chairs. Generally, the types of accessories needed for employee amenities in the shop, warehouse or production floor. Many times this equipment can be provided in matching or similar colors to the surrounding equipment colors. 

Work Benches

Work benches can be plain vanilla, a top with four legs or custom assembled for a variety of specific uses such as electronics assembly/testing, packing, assembly stations or clerical use. 

Some can have no storage compartments or drawers, or have multiple drawer/storage cabinet bases. Shelves can be provided below the main work surface or above it. Dunnage holders and cutters, box racks and tape dispensers, electrical outlets and power strips can be added to customize the bench for a particular use. The entire bench assembly can be equipped with casters and floor locks making them portable yet ridged for use in a variety of locations in the shop. Most benches are adjustable in height from 30", a good sit down work height, to 36". The higher heights work well for occasional standing use and standup packing. Standard overall sizes range from 28" to 34" deep and 48" to 72" wide. 

Some can be bolted together to make longer continuous work surfaces. Work surfaces can be steel, pressed wood, laminated wood, hardwood, plastic laminate or static dissipative materials.

Standup Shop Desk

A smaller version of the work bench is the standup shop desk. These desks are usually smaller, 34" wide by 30" deep, but higher, usually a 40" or 42" high work surface, for convenient stand up paperwork use. They come standard with a storage area (a drawer or a lift up writing surface) and pidgin hole slots above the writing surface. The body of the desk can be open or enclosed for additional storage. Casters are also available to make these desks portable. A great unit for a small space.

Storage Cabinets

Storage cabinets are essentially closed shelving units with hinged swinging doors on the front. They are available in depths of 12", 15", 18", 24", 30" and 36", widths of 36", 42" or 48" and heights of 36", 48" and 84". These are not vaults, but sheet metal storage units which can be locked to keep the honest folks honest. The interior shelves are adjustable on 1½" centers and you may have as many as you want. Special tops are provided to make the top of the lower units (36" and 48" high) into a steel work surface. All of the accessories available for shelving units such as shelf boxes are available for storage cabinets.

Machine Tool Cabinets

Machine tool cabinets are special purpose cabinets designed for the secure storage of small tools and machine tool accessories right at the tools location. Two sizes are available, 34" wide x 24" deep x 34" high and 18½" wide x 16" deep x 34" high. Caster kits are generally available to provide portability when desired.
